Pimples happen. They strike when you least suspect them. When I was a teenager, there was no other way to deal with them than by just grinning and bearing it but we live in different times now. Now, we have the option of using pimple patches!
I first saw these coming out of Korea around 2016 and it’s now made it onto Western store shelves with Western brands releasing their own in the last year or so. Korea is really ahead of the curve when it comes to skincare.
Like the pimple patches that came out of Korea, these are made using hydrocolloid dressing. Hydrocolloid dressing helps keep wounds clean, moist, and insulated from the outside environment. For pimple care, it helps an erupted pimple from becoming infected and leaving behind scarring or discoloration.
In this review, I’m going to be talking about Hero Cosmetics and reviewing their pimple patches, The Mighty Patch Invisible+.
About Hero Cosmetics
Hero Cosmetics was founded in 2017 by Ju Rhyu. The first product was The Mighty Patch and the company initially tested selling them on Amazon. Everyone knows The Mighty Patches by now and they’re sold at many retail stores like Target, Neiman Marcus, Urban Outfitters, and others.
They have a lot more products in their repertoire now. There are also many other iterations of The Mighty Patch. The one I’m reviewing is the Invisible+ version. From browsing their site, there look to be seven different types of The Mighty Patch now.
Ju Rhyu did get the inspiration for The Mighty Patch from the hydrocolloid patches that were in the stores in South Korea and brought it to the West.
Mighty Patch Review
However much I love these pimple patches, I can’t neglect saying that these only work for pimples that have already ruptured. I’ve tried popping this on a zit that is still intact and not yet burst and it didn’t do anything. This makes it very tempting to pop a pimple so you can put these pimple patches on which goes against the advice that you should not be messing with a pimple. That being said, I suppose if you were going to pop your pimple anyway, using pimple patches is a great way to keep unwanted germs and bacteria from rushing into the wound. I would just make sure to clean the popped zit before you put on a pimple patch so you’re not trapping any bacteria in there.
All in all, these patches are great for treating and keeping burst pimples clean. If your zits haven’t ruptured yet, though, it’s best to leave them be.
