Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette Review
Review: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette Review
I've had my eye on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette for a long time! I finally was able to try it out and I have some thoughts!
Description of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
This Anastasia Beverly Hills palette features 14 shades with a mix of neutrals to pinks and magentas and comes with a dual-sided bristle brush. There are three shimmer shades and eleven matte shades. There are countless every day looks you can make with this palette as it lends itself to daytime looks with a variety of neutral browns to choose from. The pops of pink and berry tones can also take it to a nighttime look as well. It apparently got its name because it is a modern take on Renaissance colors. This palette retails for $42 at Sephora and the Anastasia Beverly Hills website.
ABH Modern Renaissance Palette Pros
Ever since I swatched this palette at Sephora, I was IN LOVE with it. The color payoff in this palette is phenomenal. You only have to BARELY touch the pan with your finger or your brush and you come away with so much color and then some. A little goes a long way with this palette for sure. Or if you love dramatic eyeshadows like me and you want to cram five colors on your eyes, then this palette will be gold.Another plus to this palette is that it's a great everyday palette. The range of neutral browns and earthy oranges are perfect for everyday looks. What's even better is that the colors in the palette complement each other so well. It will be super easy to create looks from this palette and know that none of the colors will clash with each other.
ABH Modern Renaissance Palette Cons
A downside to this palette is all the fallout. A lot of fallout happens most often with really pigmented eyeshadows and this is a prime example. Swishing the brush around in the pan creates a lot of crumbling. You have to tap off the excess that you do have on the brush and, ultimately, it just seems wasteful. For forty bucks, I want every bit of color in that pan and I just am disappointed with how much color I sacrifice to the wind.Another downside I found was that the packaging of the palette itself felt a little dated. The box was a felt finish with a magnet closure and the inside is glossy cardboard. It felt a little cheap and I know for damn sure that Anastasia Beverly Hills is a luxury enough brand and doesn't need to do this. I guess they were going for a vintage appeal with the packaging but to me, it just reminded me of the 90s and my play makeup as a child. Comparing this packaging to Fenty Beauty's Galaxy Eyeshadow palette with its high gloss chrome hardback packaging, full sized mirror, and raised lettering, the ABH Modern Renaissance palette looks and feels cheap where packaging is concerned. It doesn't affect the quality of the eyeshadow at all. However, if I'm paying forty bucks for something, I don't want it to feel like a Barbie doll accessory afterthought.
ABH Modern Renaissance Final Verdict
After all is said and done, however, I do really love this palette. Its very versatile and there are a lot of color combinations that you can come up with for daytime and nighttime with this palette. The color payoff is absolutely amazing. Have not seen a palette on the market so far where you only have to lightly touch the pan and you get so much color. For forty bucks, I can see this lasting a long time.I totally recommend this palette. It's a great purchase. Hope you guys found this useful and go forth and conquer, my friends!
