Finding good mascara has always been really hard for me. I have naturally curly hair except for my eyelashes which are on the short side and sticks straight forward. This seems like a problem that plagues a lot of other Asian people when it comes to eyelashes. Western mascaras tend to be too heavy and even if the lashes were initially curled, they’d drop by the end of the day.
It just made sense to try mascaras made by Asian makeup companies. I’ve been trying a few off and on over the years but none have spoken to me and gave me so much joy and excitement like the Etude House Curl Fix Mascara.
What is Etude House?

Renowned for its endearing and whimsical packaging, Etude House appeals especially to the younger crowd with its vibrant, almost plaything-like aesthetics. Personally, I've been an admirer for quite some time, drawn to their groundbreaking product formulas that seamlessly merge top-notch components with imaginative and delightful themes. Through their commitment to producing both effective and visually appealing makeup items, Etude House has successfully cultivated a devoted global following among beauty connoisseurs.
What is the Curl Fix Mascara?
The Etude House Curl Fix mascara is a volumizing and curling mascara that delivers long-lasting lifted lashes. The formula is smudge-proof and contains curling polymer to help hold the curl in place throughout the day. The brush is designed to coat each lash evenly from root to tip, ensuring a full and defined look. People who’ve tried love the lightweight feel of the mascara and its ability to separate and lengthen lashes without clumping.
Etude House Curl Fix Mascara Review
I really love this mascara! I was hesitant because I bought this on Olive Young (you can also find it on Amazon) as a 1+1 so if I didn’t like it, I would be stuck with two of them. But I ended up loving it! First, the spoolie of this mascara is really thin which means I can get super close to the root of my eyelashes. My usual gripe with Western mascaras is that the wand is really big and I have smaller eyes so I usually can’t get at the root of the lashes with thicker wands. Etude House’s Curl Fix Mascara wand is just the right size for my eyes.
I also love the formulation of this mascara. It both lifts and separates AND lengthens my eyelashes without clumping or spidering (when you have so much mascara on that your eyelash look like spider legs). I was really excited about this formulation because I have short straight lashes and using this, they looked long and beautiful and they stay curled! Even after wearing them a whole day, they stayed curled. The formula also looks like it has filaments in it which is what I’m going to say contributes to the lengthening effect of the mascara.
Using the Curl Fix Primer
I would say that you don’t need the Curl Fix Primer to make this product work the best. I would say that even without the primer, I got long, curled lashes that lasted the whole day. I tend to use the primer if I want extra curl hold or if I want just a tiny bit more volume as the mascara will have something more to hold on to if you use the primer.
Would I Recommend the Etude House Curl Fix Primer?
Absolutely! I’ve already gifted it to a friend and they love it! If you have short stick straight lashes that refuse to curl, give this a try. Olive Young still has the 1+1 option up on their site and I definitely would recommend taking advantage of that. This is a great mascara!
