Favorite Beauty Products of 2017
It's been another year of spending way too much money on beauty products and getting hyped for new releases. I dabbled in both Western and Eastern beauty products this year and am happy to say I've found some real gems and I'm here to share them with you lovely people. At the beginning of 2018, let's look back to see which beauty products made 2017 great for me.
2017 Best Makeup Finds
I love makeup and, hopefully, makeup loves me. With a world full of amazing makeup and more makeup coming out every day, it was really hard to choose three. But of all the makeup I have slathered on my face, here are some of my favorites.
Fenty Beauty Trophy Wife Killawatt Highlighter
Fenty Beauty came out later in 2017 and has been killing it ever since. Rihanna and Fenty Beauty has released a TON of great products since their launch. (Seriously, the Galaxy line? How cool is that line?) However, my favorite Fenty product of 2017 has got to be the Trophy Wife Killawatt Highlighter. I loved it so much that my Halloween look was 80% Trophy wife.This highlighter looks good on so many skin tones and it's suuper glittery and when it catches the light, you actually look like you're glowing like a freaking goddess. It's also incredibly versatile. I've used this as both a highlighter and as an eyeshadow and it's performed perfectly both times. It definitely is a bold look and definitely a statement when you wear it. The times I HAVE worn it, it never fails to get compliments. I really love it and if you have not tried it, my friend, you need to bring it into your life and glow like a freaking goddess.
Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel #77
I'm pretty sure this eyeliner wasn't released in 2017 but I welcomed it into my life in 2017.As you can see, it's a gel pot eyeliner which took a bit of maneuvering because I was used to pencils and liquid liners but I must say, I'm super impressed by this eyeliner. It's long wearing, long lasting, smudge proof, waterproof, and hypoallergenic. The shade 77 is black and super dark so those looking for a really dark black liner should pick this up. The AMC pot liner is also available in 34 more shades so if crazy colors are your thing, Inglot has something for you. This eyeliner has helped my makeup looks really pop this year and I have reached for it over over my liquid liners when I'm doing a lewk.One caveat though is that you have to work pretty fast when you put this on as it dries insanely fast. It takes a bit of eyeliner brush skill but the results are fantastic, lemme tell you.
Moonshot Face Perfection Balm Cushion
On my trip to Seoul, we spent an obscene amount of time trying on Moonshot cosmetics and fell in love with a bunch of products. I loved the pot eyeshadow I bought there but I REALLY loved their Face Perfection balm cushion.There are a LOT of Korean cushions out there that make your face dewy like you've been sprayed in the face with a fine mist of water but once in a while, there will be a cushion that comes along that expertly toes the line between dewiness and natural finish. I will say that this cushion is not high coverage, low to medium at best so like many Korean cosmetics, would work best on people who already have amazing skin. The end result after patting this on the skin is definitely "My Skin But Better." There is a great natural glow to the skin and it does a good job of evening out your skin tone for that clean and fresh finish. When I've wanted my face to look healthy and bright, I always reach for this and, to be honest, this has helped me on days where my mood was more sick and grim. This cushion lights up your face in a great way and I love it.Also, shout out to that puff with the wider strap. I've had cushion puffs with straps that just snap off and are not very stable. This strap is so wide and super stable to use so you can actually focus on makeup application instead of fighting with your applicator. Another note is that it only comes in 3 shades of virtually the same shade of peach so for the dark-skinned people out there, sorry. But if you are within a very limited skin tone spectrum of peach, definitely try this out.
2017 Best Skincare Finds
Ah, skincare. It's what I do when I wake up and before I go to sleep. If I skip a step, I don't feel quite right. If I skip it altogether, I feel off and uncomfortable. Skincare has become a comforting ritual for me and as they say, skincare is the first step to great makeup. Here are some skincare favorites of mine from 2017.
Heimish All Clean Balm
I LOVE this thing. I've done a full review of the Heimish All Clean Balm and I've been singing its praises ALL YEAR. It's my favorite.The All Clean Balm is made with natural ingredients and contains no parabens which is great for your skin. It also does a GREAT job of getting makeup and sunscreen off your face. I've had on some pretty intense looks this year and this guy never fails me. It lifts off makeup really easily and washes off super easily. I have tried oil cleansers this year that just sat on my face and I felt it on my skin afterward even after washing but this oil cleanser is different. It does its job and washes straight out of your face.This has become one of my holy grails. I've had plenty of opportunities to try other oil cleansers but I just keep coming back to this one. I hope it's around forever because if they ever discontinue it, I'm going to have a real crisis on my hands.
CosRX Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser
CosRX has many gems and they have a butt ton of products I have yet to try but one of the products I loved most from them is their Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser.I have been a victim of blemishes this year like any normal living human and in those moments, I turn to this guy. This cleanser works to slough off dead skin cells and the salicylic acid cleans pores and soothes skin. Forreal, when I've had skin issues, I use this cleanser and my skin turns around super quickly. I always have one tube on hand even if I'm using another cleanser. This cleanser is gentle and it's not drying, it doesn't strip the face. It also uses "microbubbles" to get into your pores and clean it out more thoroughly.When someone asks me for advice on getting rid of blemishes, this cleanser is always on my list of recommendations. Seriously, try it. It's an awesome cleanser.
Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist
This is it. This.Is.The.Thing.The Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence is THE knockout product for me for 2017. I was curious about this essence for a long time. I've heard all the hype.The Intensive Moist reformulation came out and I finally got my hands on the essence to try it out and THIS CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR ME. After all the meticulous skincare I've done, my skin has been good. It was pretty clear, no major breakouts usually. I could have used some work on texture and brightness but it was nothing I couldn't work with.This essence changed all of that for me. Two weeks or so after I started using this regularly, my complexion brightened, I looked more awake and refreshed. My skin was INCREDIBLY soft and I just couldn't stop feeling my face. My face had that "skin bounce" that people kept talking about. Seriously, my skin has never looked brighter and clearer, never felt softer.I did a short review of the Missha Time Revolution Essence on my Instagram where I talked about the reformulation containing 90% fermented yeast from Himalayan purple barley which helps to plump out your skin and improve its texture. Given the results I saw, I totally buy it. This has been THE product of 2017 for me. I've never been happier with the results. TRY IT. You won't be sorry.
